Download: Salt Lake City Sanborn Map, 1898

29 Feb

This is probably my all-time favorite Sanborn Insurance Map. It’s volume 1 for Salt Lake City, Utah, issued in 1898. Isn’t it stunning!? This image is huge too, so click through it a couple of times to get the full size. I don’t know why, but the blog theme I’m using takes you to a page with a tiny thumbnail image when you first click on it here. You then have to click the thumbnail to go to the full size. Why? I have no idea. I need a new wordpress theme :/

Modern Vintage Luggage Tags by Dustin Wallace

23 Feb

These are phenomenally done. I honestly thought they were actual vintage labels when I saw them. The pencil written on top is such a great idea and makes them feel like they actually traveled the world on someone’s luggage. See Dustin’s dribble page here. Via Sam Allen on Pinterest.

Modern Vintage Business Card

13 Feb

Kevin Howdeshell and his wife sent me an email that instantly made me happy. They recently created new business cards for their Screen Print shop on Etsy. They’re wonderful illustrators with a knack for craftsmanship and a love for vintage goodness. See more of their work here.

Vintage Monogram

31 Jan

The monogram on this vintage photo back is stunning. Each letter has it’s own pattern and details, yet they all feel married to one another and are perfectly interwoven. Monograms are so simplified nowadays. After seeing this, I’ll never be satisfied with a monogram again. Sigh.
