Modern Vintage Business Card
Kevin Howdeshell and his wife sent me an email that instantly made me happy. They recently created new business cards for their Screen Print shop on Etsy. They’re wonderful illustrators with a knack for craftsmanship and a love for vintage goodness. See more of their work here.
I’m going to be ABC’s Shark Tank this Friday..Ahhh!
Remember me bugging you guys about my start-up when I was on Kickstarter? Well, crazy things have been happening with my new little company. This coming Friday, February 3rd at 8pm, I’ll be on ABC & Sony Picture’s “Shark Tank” pitching my company, You Smell, to the sharks.
lol..Can you imagine how they’re going to respond? I want to tell you guys so bad about what all happened! Please watch the show :)
P.S. We’re officially launching on Friday, but the site is up and ready for pre-orders. If you want anything from our first batch, go to the website before the rush on Friday! www.yousmellsoap.com
Modern Vintage Designer: Alvin Diec
Alvin Diec is one of my new favorite people. He does stunning work and clearly has a love for the inspiration vintage design brings. He incorporates aged details beautifully, having the perfect balance between modern and vintage. Check out his portfolio to see his other work.
Vintage Crayon Tin
This is actually a re-make of a vintage Crayola crayon package that Holli found at a Cracker Barrel for $2.50. I never would have guessed there was something I’d want to buy deep in the mounds of knick-knacks in their gift shops.
Modern Vintage: Replace Face – Celebrities in Lieu of Russian Generals
Replace Face is by far one of the coolest blogs I’ve ever come across. The artist, (who’s name isn’t anywhere on his site) found a slew of great paintings by George Dawe who painted 329 portraits of Russian Generals that were active during Napoleon’s invasion of Russia. He gave them an entertaining modern twist by replacing their heads with today’s icons like Steve Jobs, Bruce Willis, Bill Murray, and so on. The photoshopping is flawless, making it an incredibly addictive blog to keep visiting to see new additions.

Modern Vintage Signage

I love a good sign. The wood and distressed metal on this one give it a stunning vintage aesthetic that makes me want to run inside wherever the arrow is pointing to see if there’s a secret 1930s society.
This was designed by MM (where my favorite preancé works), and crafted by Lawrence Labianca for the business Monkey Inferno. In the first image, the guy on the right is Lawrence, one of the master craftsman behind this.
Modern Vintage Post Card
I love everything about this. The geometric pattern and color palette is great, but it’s the presentation that really makes it awesome. The off-white card and vintage “Post Card” label are the icing on the cake. It’s also available on a t-shirt. Go here if you want one.

Mr.Cup Letterpress Calendars
First off, the name makes me so happy inside. This calendar set is made by my friend Fabien over at Graphic Exchange. Each month has a unique letterpress design. He drew inspiration from vintage designs, some of which you’ve seen on here previously, such as the Sanborn Maps. Go to Mr.Cup to order one of the limited edition prints before they’re all spoken for!
You Smell. Help me launch on Kickstarter!
I need your help! It would mean the world to me if my awesome readers would share my kickstarter page for You Smell on Twitter and Facebook. If you donate, you’ll be the first to get You Smell products (check out the awesome perks). I can’t do this without you guys!

Well everyone, this is what I’ve secretly been slaving away on. Obviously, given my addiction to all things vintage, it has a certain aesthetic to it I though you all might enjoy :)
These are seriously the greatest soaps you will ever try. I wouldn’t spend a year of my life and everything I own on something that’s mediocre! They’re all natural, have amazing ingredients, and an extremely creamy lather. Not to mention the paper soap is unbelievably fun.
I just got accepted onto Kickstarter (yay!) and would love any help you can offer, be it reserving a bar or tweeting about it. You can hop onto the project page and read more about them.

Wouldn’t you be proud to see it in a store one day and know you helped start it? If you enjoy the blog and would like a bar of soap and some paper soap packets, please make a small donation. I will love you even more than I already do :)
