This is probably my all-time favorite Sanborn Insurance Map. It’s volume 1 for Salt Lake City, Utah, issued in 1898. Isn’t it stunning!? This image is huge too, so click through it a couple of times to get the full size. I don’t know why, but the blog theme I’m using takes you to a page with a tiny thumbnail image when you first click on it here. You then have to click the thumbnail to go to the full size. Why? I have no idea. I need a new wordpress theme :/

Yes the large size allows to see there are so much details in this image ! Incredible work when you think how they draw and print at that time with no use of our modern computers…
